Nail preparation is carried out using a fine grit file which removes the shine (will not cause any damage), then the nail is sanitised and dehydrated with Calguard, and now the nail is ready to have the gel applied.
The gel is applied with a brush and cured in a UV lamp for 30 seconds for clear gel or 3 minutes for colour gel (to go from a liquid to a solid). Once cured the gel becomes a thin nail-like substance - natural looking and extremely flexible like real nails, but strong and durable without looking thick and false.
If tips are applied the Calgel technician will apply a layer of clear gel underneath to protect the natural nail from the blending of the tip and the resin used.
Calgel can be maintained at home using an Aftercare Kit which contains topcoats, cuticle oil, nail polish remover and full instructions on how to maintain in-between visits to the Calgel technician.
A wide range of nail colours and designs to suit each client’s particular style, taste and requirements can then be applied onto this surface.
