Tip Tuesday: Original Colour Infill

This week's Tip Tuesday, we're recapping on how to infill gel nails using Calgel. We're focusing on refilling or rebalance the original colour. If your client would like a colour change, after filling in the growth area and curing, you can apply thew new colour on top. We recommend using a similar or darker shade if you're completing a colour change.

This technique can also be used for infilling a clear base coat. This will allow you to check on the natural nail without having to soak off after a few sets of infills. You would simply remove all the colour gel and infill the clear base layer. Be cautious not to file through the clear.

  • infills should be carried after 2-3 weeks depending how long quickly your clients nails grow.
  • infills should only be carried out if there are zero signs of lifting. If there's any lifting, gel should be properly removed and applied fresh
  • if infilling colour gel, recommended to soak off after 2 or 3 appointments to check on the natural nail.
  • educate your clients on the importance of aftercare and looking after their nails at home! This will keep their gels in top condition and help to avoid breakages.

Why we love gel infills

1. Save your product & money. You use less colour gel to rebalance compared to a fresh set. With Calgel, there's no need for additional clear builder gel for strength, and the infill can be finished with a thinner gel top coat.

2. Reduces treatment time: infill treatment times are usually much shorter than a full soak off and a fresh set - fit more clients into your day!

3. Reduce the frequency your clients are exposed to soak off and acetone which can be drying to skin and nails. Risk of breakages can be higher when soaking off clients with thin or brittle nails.
