Magnetic Gel Tutorial: Galaxy Cat Eye
Learn how to create a wider galaxy cat eye effect using our Magnetic Gels in Andromeda 792 and Bellatrix 798. The technique shown in the video can also be used for Milky Way 974. Written steps & images can be found below.
- To start, apply one or two coats of a black gel. Cure fully. Then apply a thin layer of Andromeda 792 or Bellatrix 798 on top - do not cure.
- Start with your magnet facing up and come in parallel to the sidewall. The magnetic pigment will start to activate - you will see them glow and the sparkle will start to disappear along the side wall.
- Then, immediately angle the magnet up slightly and stop when the ‘glow’ reaches the other side of the nail. This will be quick. Pull the magnetic away (not over) from the nail and repeat on the other side. You’ll see the ‘glow’ cover the whole nail.
- Repeat step 2 for the top and bottom of the nail but a little further away.
- To ‘push’ the cat-eye effect towards the centre of the nail, use the same angled method but hold the magnet diagonally. Repeat on the opposite side from the cuticle area.
- Play around until you are happy with the Galaxy Cat Eye Effect. Then cure & seal with your choice of gel top coat.
